Diary:Session 3

last week, when I started studying widdowson , I found it a very challenging book. I couldn't figure it out well, perhaps because of its different way of writing. As a matter of fact everything was such a mess for me. but slowly during the class time I understood the main idea of the book. Last session we covered 3 sections of widdowson about aspects of language: approaches to description, grammar and negotiation of meaning

Diary: Session 2

In the 2nd session we discussed about what's learning, the distinction between class & natural learning, what's the role of the teacher and so on…
Learning is a process. Just getting information doesn't make a process. We have to perceive, explore and retrieve. this is the process of learning. This process is experienced differently; for example inductive/deductive processing, bottom-up processing, top-down processing, dec-pro processing…
We can say that dec-pro processing is learning & pro-dec processing is acquisition. We can link it to Krashan's hypothesis: ACQUISITION/LEARNING hypothesis. He is in favour of acquisition, so he believes in the pro-dec processing.
Now we make a distinction between acquisition & learning:
learning is consciously as students study the rules of the language and listen to their teachers explain the grammar rules…

Diary

Teaching and being a teacher at the first view seems very easy and everyone things of it as an easy task to handle with. I, myself was in the same mistake as well. But when I started teaching ,I found out that how it would be hard to manage. I felt disappointed and I thought that I cant be a teacher anymore. I learned that just having the name " teacher " isn't enough; teaching is an art. A teacher should be an artist. I' m very energetic , it is necessary but not sufficient. A teacher should be a manager, a very good and professional manager , in order to guide the class through the right way to the goal . just writing a plan isn't usefull. You know, a teacher should be a psychologist at first. s/he should know her/ his sts , their emotions, .chatacteristics
